Soroa is located in the Sierra del Rosario mountain range and belongs to the province of Pinar del Río. It is 76 km (50 mi) west from Havana and it comprises more than 27 sq km (10 sq mi), rising 200 mt (656 ft) over the sea level.
Its geography is mainly characterized by high elevations and waterfalls, and there are also hummock formations like those of the Viñales valley, only one of its kind in the whole world. It is also common to find mineral water springs, rivers of crystalline waters, and numerous caves, some of them very deep. Its most important rivers are the Bayate and the Manantial.
It has an estimated population of 10 000 inhabitants.
